The 2-Weekend Portrait Painting Workshop at Spiral Studios is designed for artists who want to develop strong foundational skills in classical portraiture. This intensive workshop spans two consecutive weekends, offering a focused and immersive learning experience ideal for both beginners and intermediate artists seeking to improve their ability to capture likeness, expression, and structure in realistic portrait painting.
Throughout the workshop, students receive step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor. Whether you are new to painting or looking to strengthen your existing skills, the workshop provides a clear, structured approach that supports significant artistic growth in a short amount of time.
One of the core features of the program is the inclusion of live model sessions, allowing participants to practice observing and interpreting the human face from life. Working from a live model helps artists understand proportions, anatomy, value relationships, and subtle facial characteristics that contribute to a convincing portrait. This direct experience is essential for developing accuracy and confidence in your work.
All materials are provided. This includes paints, brushes, canvases and drawing tools.
By the end of the two weekends, participants will gain a deeper understanding of classical painting methods, an improved ability to capture character and likeness, and practical skills they can continue using in future portrait studies.
